Dena's Greedy Little Mitts
Simple, beginner fingerless gloves. Here is the pattern.
GREEDY LITTLE MITTS!!!
Originally named for Dena who, after every pattern she sees, says "I want that. Make me that!" She said she resents that! So, because the wearer must be tight fisted to get into these... "greedy little mitts" remains to be the name!
Description: Half finger gloves with longer cuff and tighter wrist. Pattern is for small ladies hand, but it does fit my hand (8 or large) since the fabric is stretchy. Bernat Galaxy is discontinued, however it is a thick and thin boucle type yarn that should be easily replacable with any thick and thin variety. Try Berroco Campus or Plymouth Perplex. Or you could order up an interesting art yarn from one of our yarnies!
With two number 10 circular needles, cast on 32 stitches divided evenly between the needles. Mark beginning, (k2, p2) repeat to last stitch. Repeat this row until cuff measures **4.5**" or desired length.
Begin decrease row. (K2 together, p2) repeat to last stitch. (**24** stitches)
Next 2 rows: knit knit stitches, pearl pearl stitches.
Next row: ( Knit 1, pearl two stitches together) repeat to last stitch. (18 stitches)
Knit next two rows.
Begin thumb gusset: * Knit 1 stitch, M1 (any way you want to make one), knit to end; then M1.
Knit one row *. Repeat * to * seven times, (30 stitches).
Knit next row until 4 stitches before end of row. Make one stitch. Slip next 7 stitches onto waste yarn. (24 stitches)
Knit five rounds.
Knit 8 stitches, m1, slip next 7 stitches onto waste yarn. Knit stitches to beginning of round. (18 stitches.
Knit 6 rounds. Knit next five stitches, m1, slip next 7 stitches onto waste yarn, knit stitches to beginning of round. (12 stitches). Knit to four stitches before end of round, m1, slip seven stitches onto waste yarn.
Middle finger: knit six rounds and loosely bind off.
All other fingers: divide stitches for finger onto the two needles, picking up two stitches next to a finished finger. Knit five rounds and loosely bind off.
Thumb: Divide stitches for thumb between two needles, picking up two stitches next to palm. Knit six rounds and loosely bind off. Weave in ends.
Repeat for second glove.

Simple mitts with sections of stockinette and reverse stockinette.
Fits 7" to 8" hand sizes.
I used my handspun fingering, but any fingering weight wool will do. This mitt is knitted flat but could be easily changed to be knit in the round. Cuff and mitt length can be knit longer if preferred.
Size 4 needle.
Cast on 44 stitches. Turn and knit 2, purl 2 to end (2x2 ribbing). Continue ribbing for 2 inches.
*Turn and knit row. Turn and begin stockinette for 4 rows. Beginning next row knit reverse stockinette for 5 rows.** Repeat * to ** 2 more times. Repeat stockinette for 5 more rows.
Knit 1.5 inches of 2x2 ribbing. Bind off in rib.
Sew edges leaving opening for thumb.
Make another if you want to...
